Lantern does not disconnect you. Your download speed is reduced to about 128 Kbit/s until the next daily reset. Uploads are limited to about 5 Mbit/s, which is high enough that sending requests still works normally. You will receive notifications at 50%, 80%, and 100% of your daily usage, and the home screen shows when the cap has been reached along with the reset time.
